California the Beautiful Part 2

Day 2: Morning - We stopped at the famous Madonna Inn. We didn’t stay there, but we did go into the lobby to check things out. If you don’t know about this hotel, it is famous because each room has a different theme. Outside the architecture was in a beautiful Victorian style, inside the architecture was pretty gaudy. It was still decorated for Valentines Day and had huge hearts hanging everywhere. However, it did have a beautiful fireplace and stained glass windows; that is pretty much all I liked about the place.

Here is a picture of the outside from the parking lot, unfortunately there are cars in the way, but it is still a beautiful picture of the back part of the hotel.

Here are some pictures of the inside of the lobby, including the famous “cave bathroom” that was on the “top 10 best bathrooms” on the travel channel. It is a men’s bathroom, so I had to sneak in there really quick to snap some shots!

Here is a picture outside the hotel looking towards the beautiful hills.

Afterwards, we drove up the coast a little further to Morro Bay. All I can say is BEAUTIFUL! It’s a darling little seaside town and is famous for its huge rock in the bay. The waves were huge that day, probably over 20 feet or so!! They were breaking over the breakwater and it was such an amazing sight to see. We also saw a sea otter in the harbor, but the little guy was too quick and I couldn’t get a good picture of him. The one I did get, he looks like a log in the water! But it is really him, I promise!

California the beautiful!! Part 1

Our trip of the CA coast was beautiful! I have to say if you have never driven up (or down) the coast it is definitely a trip you want to take. From the coast to the redwoods, it is truly extraordinary!! I will be posting pictures over the next several days. Here are some pictures from day 1.

We stopped in the beautiful dutch town of Solvang. It was late Friday afternoon and the town was basically deserted. There are a ton of shops, bakeries and restaurants. It was nice to stroll around and be silly tourists:

The cuckoo clocks are amazing!

I couldn't resist getting a picture of these cute little dresses and these shoes.

I am such a wine fanatic that when we passed by this fabulous chair, I had to give over the camera to my loving hubby and have him take a picture of me in it. No it wasn't for sale :(

As we were driving out of town we passed "The Hitching Post." My hubby was so excited, as I was making an illegal u-turn so we could get a picture. For those of you who have seen the movie Sideways, you will know why this was such a big deal.

Happy Valentines Day!

This is our first Valentines Day as a married couple!! It makes me look at my life and see how lucky I am to be in love with such a wonderful man. I won't get too mushy here, but I need to pay homage to my man! He is the best thing that ever happened to me. He is so loving and caring, I feel like the luckiest woman alive to have him in my life.

We have decided to go out of town this weekend. We will be going up to the Cambria area. I hear it is beautiful. I will be gone from Friday through Monday. I can't wait to use my camera more! See you on the flip side!!

Why I love living in California!

I was on my way home tonight from work and the sky was filled with beautiful colors! I couldn't wait to get home and grab my camera so I can run outside and take some pictures. Unfortunately, the traffic was really bad and I missed most of it. I wanted to walk down to the water but didn't have time. However, I did get a few shots of the last bit of the sunset. I just love being able to walk outside and have this beautiful view. These were all taken from my doorstep.

It's Wednesday

Well I've been working all week and haven't had a chance to get anymore pictures up. This weekend I have a child's birthday party, so hopefully I will get a lot more pictures up from that. Stay tuned, as I already have a lot of new sessions planned!

Superbowl Sunday!

Today we went to our friends house to watch the Superbowl commercials. We weren't exactly happy with the teams that were playing, so that is why we were watching the commercials. However, those weren't that great either. We ending up just drinking and having a good time. Our friends and their kids were there. They are great kids and I can't wait until we go to Disneyland with them in a few weeks. I was also asked to do family portraits of them at the beach. Here are a few of my favorites shots from the day. Now bear with me, as I am still learning how to edit pictures in photoshop.

The wonderful world of photography!

I've always loved photography. My entire life I've been known to have a camera hanging from my wrist, as I never wanted to miss a fantastic shot. Inspired by my own wedding photographer who has a similar story, I've decided to jump feet first into the professional photographers life. So welcome to my world!
